Maytime Cottage is set in the valley of the River Yar between St Catherines Down to the West and Stenbury Down to the East. The cottage is approximately 1.5 miles inland, just north of the villages of Whitwell & Niton. Whitwell, has a good pub and a petrol station, while Niton has a selection of local shops and two pubs. The victorian resort of Ventnor is approximately 4 miles away. Other local places to visit include Blackgang Chine, Appledurcombe House and Falconry Centre and St Catherines Lighthouse.
